Dharma Care’s “Songs for Shelter” playlist fundraiser invites you to fight homelessness this winter — one song, one donation at a time.

Dharma Care’s annual Winter Warmer Homelessness Relief Campaign achieved remarkable success in addressing homelessness and social isolation in Byron and Tweed Shire through the collaborative efforts of local partner organisations.   

Provided essential support to individuals facing homelessness and economic hardship; delivered a comprehensive range of aid that improved their immediate well-being and access to critical resources.

Results so far.

• 71% increase in the number of people supported in 2024 versus the prior year.
• 1,581 individuals have directly benefited from the Dharma Care 2024 Winter Warmer campaign.
• Demonstrates a growing need for services and the ability to reach more people.
• Bridging gaps in support for those facing economic and housing challenges.

Our donors have funded $118,555 into local homelessness support over the last two years.  Let’s keep that momentum going.

This winter, as freezing nights grow longer, hundreds of people in our community are without safe shelter, warm clothing, or even a hot meal.  You can help — and all it takes is your favourite song.

For every donation you give, we’ll add your chosen song to our Songs for Shelter Spotify playlist — a growing soundtrack of warmth, safety, and love, curated by people who care.

Your gift helps provide:

$25 = Hot meals. Fuel for the body. Warmth for the soul.
$50 = Clothing and blankets. New clothes and blankets changes everything
$100 = Warm Sleeps. A sleeping bag or tent brings comfort and survival.
$200 = Shelter, food and clothing for a family. Wrap a family in warmth, dignity, and hope.

Why It Matters

Services across Byron and Tweed Shires in Northern NSW are seeing a surging need for more support.

Freds Place at Tweed Heads, continues to serve breakfast to more than 100 people per day and is helping people displaced from Queensland with tents and warm bedding.
Pottsville Beach Neighbourhood Centre is overwhelmed by families and single mothers priced out of housing, handing out sleeping bags and crisis supplies daily.
Fletcher Street Cottage in Byron Bay has now seen 36,000+ visits, launched a vital new Women’s Space, and continues to provide meals, care, and connection to hundreds each month.
Murwillumbah Community Centre worked with over 3000 people last year providing support, care, food, homeless supplies and links to specialist services.

No Winter Warmer Event This Year — But the Need Has Never Been Greater

Due to staffing, we’re skipping our usual fundraiser event. But homelessness doesn’t pause — and neither will we.
