A Year of Triumphs in Stunting Prevention

In 2023, Yayasan Usaha Mulia (YUM) was able to support a total of 449 pregnant women, welcomed 293 healthy babies into the world, and provided training to 114 women volunteer health workers across 15 Posyandu (Integrated Health Centres) in 17 villages.

Welcoming a New Chapter with Open Hearts

The Stunting Prevention Program spearheaded by Yayasan Usaha Mulia (YUM)  in both West Java and Central Kalimantan throughout 2023 has been transformative. With unwavering support from generous donors, the dedicated teams on the ground have made remarkable strides in empowering communities. Together, they’ve heightened awareness around stunting, enriched knowledge on prenatal nutrition, celebrated the arrival of healthy newborns, and bolstered the capabilities of our women volunteer health workers.

A Glimpse of Impact: By the Numbers

The past year has seen YUM extend their support to 449 expectant mothers, joyously welcome 293 newborns, and enhance the skills of 114 women volunteer health workers across 15 Posyandu in 17 villages. This is a profound impact and transformation of countless lives and futures.

Celebrating Milestones: The Triumph Over Stunting

Our collective heart swells as we reflect on the transformative outcomes witnessed across the Posyandu centers supported. A testament to the collective efforts is the significant reduction in stunting rates, with the majority of centers achieving an extraordinary feat of 0% stunting rates among enrolled babies. This achievement is starkly contrasted with the minimal instances where stunting was recorded at a mere 6%, a figure significantly lower than the national average of 21.6%. These results are not only a reflection of our program’s effectiveness but a beacon of hope for the holistic strategies we’ve employed in combating stunting.

Envisioning the Future: Expanding Horizons in 2024

Fueled by the successes of 2023, YUM are invigorated to press on with their mission to eradicate stunting. As they look to the horizon of 2024, aspirations soar to broaden the program’s reach, deepen the impact, and bring transformative benefits to even more communities.

A new frontier in their endeavor is the focus on addressing malnutrition not only in infants through stunting prevention but also in toddlers through the introduction of complementary feeding practices, targeting children aged 6 months to 2 years at high risk of stunting.

A Unified Call to Action: Together, We Forge Ahead

The support from donors has been the cornerstone of our achievements, and together, we have ignited a beacon of hope for countless mothers and children.

As we embark on the journey through 2024, we invite you to continue standing with us. Your ongoing support is the catalyst that will propel us towards achieving even grander milestones, crafting a world where every child is afforded the chance to thrive, brimming with health, happiness, and boundless potential.

Thank you for being an integral part of the collaboration between YUM and Dharma Care to eliminate child stunting. Together, let’s keep the flame of change burning bright, illuminating paths to a healthier, brighter future for all.
